Electrical Estimator - Nelson
We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Electrical Estimator, or a trade-qualified professional keen to develop their estimating career, to join our Nelson office. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in preparing accurate and competitive estimates across a range of industrial electrical projects.
This is a permanent full-time position on offer with the expectation of long-term commitment. On offer is a competitive remuneration package that is negotiable dependent on experience.

What You'll Be Doing

Analyse electrical drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labour estimates.

Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to understand project requirements and specifications.

Develop detailed and itemised estimates, covering materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

Participate in bid proposal preparations and presentations to clients.

Monitor and update estimates in response to project changes and revisions.

Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.


What We're Looking For

This role will suit someone with previous estimating experience—ideally within the industrial electrical sector—or someone with strong trade-based knowledge and a genuine desire to grow into an estimating role. Applicants with estimating experience in related industries will also be considered.

Requirements

Full NZ driver’s licence

Excellent analytical and mathematical skills

Confidence in engaging with customers and identifying opportunities

Trade background or a strong interest in developing estimating expertise

Marketing- and systems-oriented mindset

Strong Microsoft Office skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

A willingness to work overtime when required
